Usamaru Furuya’s Bokutachi no Shinju Manga Comes to an End
Ohta Publishing’s Manga Erotics F magazine published the final chapter of Usamaru Furuya’s manga Bokutachi no Shinjū, which translates to Our Lovers’ Suicide, on Wednesday. Furuya only launched the series in April, making for a relatively short run, and a collected volume is due on December 23.
Furuya is a well known and distinctive name in alternative manga, with a long and varied career behind him.
His other works include Lunatic Circus, Amane Gymnasium, Teiichi no Kuni, and a striking adaptation of the classic novel No Longer Human.
Several of his titles have reached English readers as well. Viz released Genkaku Picasso, while Vertical published both Lychee Light Club and No Longer Human.
His art also features prominently in Ohta Publishing’s online archive, launched in late 2024, which collects more than 100 previously serialized works, including Lychee Light Club, alongside titles from other acclaimed creators.
My take: Furuya has always been a bold, uncompromising artist, and even his shorter works tend to leave a mark. I will be curious to see this one collected so readers can take it in as a whole.
