Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2 Adds Two Cast Members

The official account for the anime of Let This Grieving Soul Retire! revealed two new cast members on Friday. Kiyono Yasuno joins as Artbaran Henning and Yūki Wakai as Mary Auden, based on the light novels by Tsukikage and Chyko.

The series’ second season premiered on October 6 on Tokyo MX and BS NTV, with early streaming on d Anime Store and ABEMA from October 4. On the music side, Kiyono Yasuno performs the opening theme, Algorithm, while the group i☆Ris handles the ending song.

The story is a fun spin on fantasy adventure. It follows Krai, who once swore alongside his childhood friends to become the greatest treasure hunter of all, only to realize he simply is not cut out for the job.

The trouble is that nobody else seems to notice. As his friends climb toward glory, the expectations on Krai keep mounting, along with his fear for his life, leaving him with one humble wish: to quietly retire from it all.

The anime is produced at Zero-G, with J-Novel Club publishing the original light novels in English for readers abroad.

My take: A reluctant hero who is wildly overestimated by everyone around him is such a reliably funny setup. I am glad it is back for a second season, and the new voices should fit right in.
