Hulu Adds Gintama Seasons 2 and 3 With English Dub

Good news for Gintama fans on Hulu. The streamer is now carrying the second and third seasons of the long running comedy anime, complete with an English dub.

Hulu first added the show’s first season, with both subtitles and a dub, back in December 2019, and that season remains available, so viewers can now follow the series further with English voices.

Gintama has had a winding home video and streaming history in the West. Earlier dubbed episodes were released on disc through Crunchyroll and Funimation, while Sentai Filmworks put out the very first batch of episodes on DVD years ago without a dub.

There has been other Gintama news lately too. An anime adaptation of the spinoff novel series Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class recently began streaming on a newer platform, expanding the franchise in another direction.

For a series as enormous as Gintama, having more of it available with a dub in one place is a real convenience.

My take: Gintama’s dub has a real comedic charm of its own, so making more seasons available is great for fans who prefer watching in English. It is a sprawling, hilarious series that rewards sticking with it.
