Witch Watch Episode 25 Review: A Funny Season Finale
Witch Watch wraps up its season with episode 25, and once again the show proved it had more comedy left than I expected. After last week’s cliffhanger, I assumed the finale might lean dramatic, but instead it mostly settles in for a few more laughs while we wait for the already announced second season.
That makes for a lighter ending than I was anticipating, though it still lands plenty of good jokes along the way.
The episode revolves around the school festival. Nico’s classmates set up a haunted cafe and use her magic to make it feel genuinely spooky, while Kanshi and Keigo decide to put on a comedy sketch.
The sketch is where most of the humor comes from. The two have real comedic potential, and Morihito, the group’s relentless nitpicker, ends up helping craft their jokes because he knows how much work good comedy takes. Predictably, the pair let a little early praise go to their heads, ditch the script, and stumble badly once they are actually on stage.
It is a breezy, good natured note to end on. Witch Watch is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, and this finale earned a solid community score of 4.0.
My take: I have a soft spot for shows that simply want to make you laugh, and Witch Watch does that reliably. A gag heavy finale is a fitting send off, and I am already looking forward to the second season.
