Crunchyroll Anime Coming to Delta In Flight Seatback Screens in November
Crunchyroll announced it will begin offering anime on Delta flights as in flight entertainment starting in early November. The content will be available on seatback screens, giving passengers access to a curated selection of the platform’s library during their travels.
More than 50,000 episodes from over 2,000 titles will be included in the offering. Some of the series featured include Black Clover, My Roommate is a Cat, Horimiya, Fruits Basket, and Solo Leveling. The service is expected to be available on over 940 Delta aircraft.
Delta SkyMiles members will also be able to connect to Delta Sync Wi-Fi on their personal devices to claim a 24-hour free trial to Crunchyroll, usable either during or after the flight.
Crunchyroll operates as an independently run joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the United States and Aniplex in Japan. Both entities are part of the broader Sony Group. The platform has been steadily expanding its reach in recent years, including a presence on YouTube Primetime Channels, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Freevee, LG Channels, the Roku Channel, and VIZIO WatchFree+.
My take: Putting anime on airplane seatback screens is a genuinely clever move. A long flight with nothing to watch is a perfect moment to finally start that series you have been putting off, and having it right there on the seat in front of you without needing your own device is a nice touch.
