A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special Returns in 2026
Good news for fantasy fans who have been patiently waiting. The official site for the anime of Wookjakga’s Korean web comic A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special, known in Japanese as Kikansha no Mahō wa Tokubetsu Desu, began streaming a promotional video for its second season on Friday. The clip confirms that season two will broadcast and stream in 2026.
Crunchyroll also shared an English subtitled version of the same video a day earlier, revealing it on Thursday during its panel at New York Comic Con.

For anyone new to the series, Yen Press, which handles the English release, sums up the premise nicely. In a world where the Shadow World has taken over and most of humanity has been wiped out, a party of six heroes tries and fails to save everyone. Magician Desir Herman then gets a second chance, waking up to find that he has traveled thirteen years into the past.
From there it is up to Desir to gather his party once more and stop the greatest catastrophe in human history. The first season premiered back in October 2023, and Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired across English speaking regions, Latin America, and Europe, along with an English dub.
The roots of the story go back further still. It began as an original tale by Usonan, published on Kakao Page from September 2016 to August 2019, with the webtoon adaptation drawn by Wookjakga arriving in May 2018.
My take: Time travel do over stories always pull me in, and the idea of a lone survivor trying to save the friends he once lost gives this one a real emotional pull.
