You and I Are Polar Opposites Anime Adds Two Cast Members
The team behind the anime of Kōcha Agasawa’s romantic comedy You and I Are Polar Opposites announced two more cast members on Friday. Kokoro Ōmori and Tomori Kusunoki are joining as the schoolmates Nishi and Honda.
They round out a cast led by Sayumi Suzushiro as Suzuki and Shōgo Sakata as Tani, alongside Yuna Taniguchi, Konatsu Hirabayashi, Anji Iwata, Miyuri Shimabukuro, and Wataru Katō in supporting roles. The anime is set to premiere in January 2026, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it airs.
There is real talent behind the scenes too. Takakazu Nagatomo directs at Lapin Track, Teruko Utsumi of Sarazanmai writes the scripts, Mako Miyako handles character designs, and the musician tofubeats is composing the score, with SHOCHIKU overseeing production.
The story itself is a sweet, down to earth romance. Suzuki is an energetic girl who tends to follow the crowd, and she finds herself drawn to Tani, a quiet boy who has no trouble speaking his mind. Their opposite personalities are the heart of the appeal.
Agasawa began the manga on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus, where it grew out of a popular one shot, and it has since been published in English for readers abroad.
My take: Opposites attract is a tried and true setup, but it works for a reason, and a gentle, relatable rom com like this is always welcome. The tofubeats soundtrack is a lovely bonus too.
