Ultraman 4K Discovery Reveals English Dub Cast
Tsuburaya Productions announced on Wednesday the English dub cast for Ultraman 4K Discovery, a project that restores the original 1966 Ultraman series in 4K and reshapes selected episodes into four themed movies.
The English dub is being recorded at OkraTron 5000, the studio run by veteran voice actor and director Christopher R. Sabat.
Tsuburaya plans to release Ultraman 4K Discovery on Blu-ray through Alliance Entertainment on November 18. Ahead of that, the project made its US premiere at Los Angeles Comic Con in September.
The restoration first began rolling out a couple of years ago, with its opening movie shown at the Tsuburaya Film Festival in late 2023 and the rest following at the 2024 event. It all stems from the original 39 episode Ultraman, which first aired in Japan back in 1966.
My take: Lovingly restoring a classic like Ultraman in 4K is exactly the kind of preservation I love to see. Curating it into movies with a fresh dub is also a friendly way to introduce the original to a whole new audience.
