BL Light Anime Saioshi no Gikei Premieres in January 2026

A new key visual has been revealed for the upcoming boys love light anime Saioshi no Gikei wo Mederu Tame, Nagaiki Shimasu!, which is set to begin airing in Japan in January 2026. A still from the series also went up on its official X account.

Yusuke Morishita is directing, with Izumi Tezuka writing the series and the studios Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio handling the animation.

The project is notable as the first light anime from BALLOON, a new boys love animation label backed by partners including Imagica Infos, Dai Nippon Printing, CYBIRD, and Blue Rights, with AnimationID also involved.

The original light novel comes from author Tenma Asahi and was published by AlphaPolis in late 2022, later receiving a manga adaptation in 2024.

The story follows Alba, who is reincarnated as the step brother of a game character they had been a devoted fan of, setting up a romance built around that unusual twist of fate.

My take: It is interesting to see a dedicated boys love label step into animation, since more variety in the space is always welcome. The reincarnation hook gives this one a fun angle, and I am curious how the light anime format suits it.
