Manga Planet Brings Psychedelia to Print
Manga Planet has announced a print release for Hidebu Takahashi’s Psychedelia through its futekiya imprint. The initial run is exclusive to Kinokuniya USA, with pre-orders already open online and an early sale planned at New York Comic Con from October 9 to 12.
The story is a supernatural tinged romance. Shohei Mizoshiri, nicknamed Mizo, is a junior detective quietly in love with his senior colleague Toranosuke Hino. When an investigation goes terribly wrong and leaves Hino in a coma, Mizo is suspended and consumed by guilt, only to come home and find Hino’s living spirit waiting for him.
Takahashi originally ran the manga from 2021 to 2022, collected in a single volume.
The print push comes as Manga Planet prepares to close its digital service in March 2026, citing payment processor restrictions and a shifting online landscape. The company is now redirecting its energy toward physical releases through its labels.
My take: It is a little sad to see a digital service wind down, especially over payment processor troubles that are hitting many platforms lately. Still, it is heartening that titles like Psychedelia will live on in print rather than simply vanishing.
