Therapy Game BL Drama Reveals Trailer and Theme Songs

The team behind the live action adaptation of Meguru Hinohara’s boys love manga Therapy Game shared a new trailer and its theme songs on Wednesday, ahead of the show’s premiere later this month.

For the music, the vocal and dance group Ryūgūjō performs the opening theme, SUGAR, while the idol group MAZZEL handles the ending song, Only You. Fittingly, members of both groups are also starring in the series.

MAZZEL’s NAOYA plays Minato Mito, and Ryūgūjō’s Yūki Tomita takes on the role of Shizuma Ikushima. The drama premieres on NTV on October 29, with Misato Katō and Miyako Yasoshima directing.

The series adapts a popular romance about two men whose tangled first meeting leads to a complicated mix of attraction and mischief, a story already enjoyed in English through Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint.

My take: Pairing the cast’s own groups with the soundtrack is a clever bit of synergy, and the trailer should help build buzz. I am curious to see whether the leads capture the manga’s messy, charming chemistry.
