The official X account for the television anime of Hey’s manga Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana, which translates to Botan Kamiina, Her Drunken Appearance Is Like a Lily Flower, shared some casting news on Friday. Maki Kawase has joined the project to play Chang Chin Lan.

The account also unveiled a character trailer and a visual for Chang. The anime itself is set to premiere in April 2026, with Sayumi Suzushiro leading the cast as the title character Botan.
The rest of the ensemble includes Yoshino Aoyama as Ibuki Tomino, Minako Kotobuki as Kanade Gujō, Yurina Amami as Akane Yusa, and Miyu Tomita as Yaeka Kitamori.
Takashi Sakuma, who directed 16bit Sensation: Another Layer, is directing at studio Soigne, with Shuntarō Tozawa serving as assistant director. Kō Yoshinari of White Album is on character designs, Yōko Yonaiyama of A Sign of Affection is writing the series scripts, and Kana Hashiguchi is composing the music.
As for the story, it centers on Botan Kamiina, a 20 year old in her first year of college who turns a little bolder and blurts out surprising things whenever she has had a drink. Hey launched the manga on Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross website in March 2019, and the sixth volume shipped on March 18.
My take: A gentle yuri comedy built around someone who only finds her courage after a drink sounds both funny and quietly sweet, and the staff here is stacked with real talent.
