Kusunoki’s Garden of Gods Casts Its Wind and Thunder Gods

The official website for the anime adaptation of Enju’s light novel Kusunoki’s Garden of Gods revealed an additional pair of cast members on Monday. Yoshiki Nakajima will voice Fūjin, the wind god, while Daiki Kobayashi takes on Raijin, the thunder god. The series is set to premiere in 2026.

The story is a gentle fantasy slice of life. Minato Kusunoki ends up caring for a remote house that was once thick with evil spirits, until his special ability clears them out, after which a friendly assortment of gods begins gathering at the now peaceful home.

Enju began the novels online in 2021, and ASCII Media Works has since published them in print, reaching a tenth volume with an eleventh due in mid November.

The series has also grown through Akira Anzai’s manga adaptation, and Yen Press has licensed the light novels for English readers.

With the wind and thunder gods now cast, the divine ensemble around Minato continues to take shape ahead of next year’s premiere.

My take: Casting the wind and thunder gods is a fun touch, since those two classic deities practically beg for big, characterful voices. I remain charmed by the idea of a home that becomes a quiet gathering place for gods.
