Yaiba Samurai Legend Season 2 Premieres January 9
Yaiba is sharpening up for round two. YAIBA: Samurai Legend Season 2, subtitled the Kaguya Arc, revealed its main visual along with a January 9, 2027 premiere date. WIT STUDIO is once again handling the animation for the new adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s manga.
Aoyama’s other hit
Most people know Gosho Aoyama for Case Closed, but Yaiba came first, and the modern remake has been a reminder of how much fun the man has when he is writing swords instead of murders. Season one turned a nineties gag adventure into a slick, expressive action series, and WIT’s animation carried a lot of that. Keeping the same studio for the Kaguya Arc means the look and the pacing should hold.
The Kaguya Arc is where the manga raises the stakes considerably, moving the story beyond Earth and pushing Yaiba into his most iconic battles. It is the section fans of the original have been waiting to see done properly.
Timing
A January 9 premiere puts Yaiba in the winter 2027 season alongside Shangri La Frontier Season 3 and Dengeki Daisy, which is shaping up to be a busy quarter. The date and visual were reported by Anime Corner.
My take: Yaiba was the surprise of its season and WIT staying on is the main reason to trust the sequel. January is a good home for it.
