Super Psychic Policeman Chojo Anime Premieres October 6
The dumbest cop in Weekly Shonen Jump is getting his own show. Super Psychic Policeman Chojo premieres today, October 6, adapting Shun Fukuda’s gag manga about a police officer with psychic powers and absolutely no idea how to use them responsibly.
Jump’s gag tradition lives
Chojo is the kind of series Jump has always kept on its roster alongside the battle giants: a pure comedy with a relentless joke rate and a protagonist whose confidence vastly exceeds his competence. Chojo can read minds, move objects and see the future, and he uses all of it to make every case worse. The manga found a devoted audience for the same reason Gintama and Bobobo did, it commits completely to its own stupidity.
The anime was announced for 2026 last October, and the October 6 date lands it in a fall season that is otherwise heavy on fantasy and drama, which should help a comedy stand out.
Why gag anime matters
Every season needs a show you can watch without homework, and Chojo is built for that slot. The premiere date was confirmed as reported by Anime Corner.
My take: Gag manga adaptations are the riskiest genre in anime because timing is everything. If Chojo lands its rhythm, it will be the show I quote all season.
