Otome Game Temirana Launches in the West on January 13
Idea Factory International announced on Tuesday that it will release the otome visual novel Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights in English for Nintendo Switch. The game arrives digitally and physically in North America on January 13, with Europe getting the digital version the same day and a physical edition on January 27, after a delay from 2025.
The story is set in a world where a person’s status and role are decided by the month they were born. In the kingdom of Temirana, the third princess is born with a birthmark on her forehead and is branded the Cursed Princess, sent to live far from her family.
In truth, her mark comes with a quiet gift. Whenever she is in danger, people and places around her shine as a kind of warning. At a grand dueling tournament, she spots five men glowing with an unusually strong light, and though others insist it means they are dangerous, she trusts that their glow is something different.
Acting on instinct, she invites the five to form her own order of knights, even though some have never held a sword and others have little interest in the role. Together, this unlikely company must face the tragedy looming ahead.
The release comes in standard and limited editions, with a trading card included for store purchases, and features a cast of well known voice actors including Makoto Furukawa and Yūsuke Kobayashi.
My take: A heroine reclaiming a cursed reputation through her own quiet power is such an appealing otome setup. I love that her knights are a bunch of unlikely misfits, which should make their bonds all the more rewarding.
