Spy x Family Manga Goes on Hiatus Amid Season 3’s Return
Spy x Family has been one of the most talked about shows this fall, with its third season promising to finally reveal Loid Forger’s backstory and how he became such an elite spy. So it was a surprise when fans learned that the manga is taking a sudden, unexplained break right in the middle of all the excitement.
The timing is tough. The manga normally runs on a biweekly schedule, but it quietly skipped its planned October chapter, offering readers a cheerful Halloween illustration instead. The next chapter is not expected until November 9, which means over a month without new story.
The last full installment arrived back in September, making this one of the longer gaps the series has seen. Creator Tatsuya Endo has stayed active online promoting the anime but has not addressed the hiatus directly, which has naturally led to plenty of speculation.
No official reason has been given. It is worth remembering that creators often step back for their health or simply to manage a heavy workload, and balancing a major manga and anime at once is demanding work.
What makes the wait especially frustrating is where the story sits, inching toward the long teased mysteries around Donovan Desmond and Anya’s telepathy, just as the anime is hitting some of its biggest emotional moments.
My take: However eager I am for the next chapter, I hope Endo is simply taking the time he needs. A series this beloved is well worth waiting for, and the anime will keep us company in the meantime.
