Tune In to the Midnight Heart Anime Adds Kana Hanazawa to Cast
There is fresh casting news for Tune In to the Midnight Heart (Mayonaka Heart Tune). The official site for the television anime, based on Masakuni Igarashi’s showbiz themed romantic comedy, unveiled more staff, a second promotional video, a key visual, and its theme songs on Thursday.
Rikuya Yasuda voices the lead, Arisu Yamabuki, and Kana Hanazawa joins the cast as Lemon Andou. On the music side, virtual singer Suisei Hoshimachi performs the opening theme “Tsuki ni Mukatte Ute,” while singer songwriter Soala sings the ending theme “Koe no Kiseki,” with both previewed in the new video.
The series begins airing on January 6, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. on Kansai TV and Fuji TV’s new programming slot, and BS Asahi will carry it on its Anime A block starting January 9. Masayuki Takahashi is directing at studio Gekkou, with Yukie Sugawara handling series composition and Tomoyuki Shitaya designing the characters.
The production has lined up a deep crew across photography, editing, art, and 3D work, with music by Kuniyuki Takahashi of MONACA, sound direction by Yuuichi Morita, and production handled by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.
As for the manga, Igarashi started it in Weekly Shounen Magazine in September 2023, a few years after finishing Senryuu Shoujo. The tenth volume arrived in September with an eleventh due in December, and Kodansha USA, which licensed the series in 2024, is releasing it in English in print and through its K Manga app.
My take: Adding Kana Hanazawa to a cast is rarely a bad sign, and the staff list here runs surprisingly deep for a quiet romance. I am increasingly convinced this one is worth a look come January.
