Marriage Toxin Anime Confirmed for April 2026 Premiere at Bones Film
The TV anime adaptation of Marriage Toxin has been confirmed for an April 2026 premiere. The announcement came from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series is based on the manga by Jōmyaku and artist Mizuki Yoda.
The anime will star Haruki Ishiya as the lead character Hikaru Gero and Shion Wakayama as Mei Kinosaki. Motonobu Hori, known for directing Carole and Tuesday, is helming the production at Bones Film. Kimiko Ueno is handling the script and series composition, while Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi are composing the music. Kōhei Tokuoka is serving as chief animation director.
The manga follows Gero, a deadly assassin from a poison clan who refuses to let his sister give up her relationship with her girlfriend just to produce an heir for the family. In a desperate move, he turns to Mei Kinosaki, a marriage swindler, for help presenting himself as husband material. VIZ Media has licensed the manga for English release.
Jōmyaku and Yoda launched the manga on the Shonen Jump+ app in April 2022. Shueisha published the 15th compiled volume in October, and the series is also available digitally in English through Shueisha’s reader platform.
My take: The setup for Marriage Toxin is the kind of premise that sounds a little ridiculous but has genuine heart underneath it. Bones Film as the studio is a reassuring choice, and the cast announcements make this one to watch for spring 2026.
