This Maou sama Retry recap begins at server shutdown. Akira Oono, the middle aged admin of a long running online game, closes his creation for the last time and wakes up in another world wearing the body of its final boss, the demon lord Hakuto Kunai.

The joke that carries the series is that Akira is not a demon lord at all, just a tired professional in a terrifying costume, improvising villain speeches while his game knowledge makes him accidentally unstoppable.
