Kotaro Lives Alone Recap: The Four Year Old Next Door
This Kotaro Lives Alone recap starts with a doorbell. Struggling manga artist Karino opens his apartment door to his new neighbor: Kotaro, four years old, formally polite, holding a box of tissues as a moving in gift, and completely alone.
The series balances two tones perfectly. On the surface it is a comedy about a tiny samurai spoken gentleman managing his own household; underneath it is the slowly assembled story of why a small child knows how to shop, cook, and comfort adults, and what he is protecting himself from.
The recap covers the move in, the guardians Kotaro collects across the building, the small daily rituals that carry heavy explanations and the moments where the comedy steps aside and lets the truth through.
