Konami Signs Yu-Gi-Oh! Book Deals With Random House, Panini
Konami Cross Media NY announced on Tuesday that it has signed new publishing deals for the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise with Random House Children’s Books and the Panini Group.
Under the agreements, Random House will handle titles in the United States and Canada, including various territories and military bases, while Panini will cover Europe and Central and South America.
Panini’s rollout begins in France and French speaking parts of Belgium before expanding into Latin America. Both publishers are starting off with children’s sticker books.
The deals build on Konami’s earlier book partnerships for the brand, which included coloring and activity books as well as a German language edition of an official Yu-Gi-Oh! guide.
It all points to a steady effort to keep the franchise’s printed merchandise widely available for young fans around the world.
My take: Yu-Gi-Oh! is far more than a card game, so expanding its books for kids in more regions makes good sense. Sticker books are a sweet, accessible entry point for the youngest fans.
