Titan Manga Reveals English Cover for Aoashi Soccer Manga

Titan Manga has shared a first look at the cover and interior spreads for its upcoming English edition of Yūgo Kobayashi’s soccer manga Aoashi, revealing them to ANN this week.

The publisher is releasing the series in an omnibus format that combines three volumes at a time, with the first arriving on May 12. It is already available to pre order through major retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Forbidden Planet.

Aoashi follows Ashito Aoi, a brash and hot headed young striker who loves the game, as he takes his first real steps toward becoming a professional soccer player. Thrown into a tough new environment, he has to fight to hold his place and climb toward the top.

The turning point comes through a chance meeting on Futami Beach in Ehime, where Ashito crosses paths with Fukuda Tatsuya, a former rising star whose own promising career was cut short. That encounter sets the whole story in motion.

The series is already well loved through its manga and anime, so an accessible omnibus release is a nice way for new readers in English to jump in.

My take: Aoashi is one of the smarter sports manga out there, with a real eye for the thinking behind the game. The omnibus format is a great call, since it lets newcomers binge their way into the story.
