Dorohedoro Sequel Anime Set for Spring 2026

Good news for fans of one of anime’s most gleefully strange series. The official account for the Dorohedoro anime, based on Q Hayashida’s manga, revealed a spring 2026 debut and a new teaser visual for its sequel season on Friday. The visual also promises that the new season will stream almost simultaneously around the world.

Yuichiro Hayashi is returning to direct at MAPPA, with Tomohiro Kishi back as character designer, keeping the creative core intact. The season had previously been planned for 2025.

For newcomers, Dorohedoro is set in a grim, surreal city known only as the Hole, where sorcerers snatch people off the streets to use in cruel magical experiments.

At its center is Caiman, a man with a reptile head and no memory, who hunts sorcerers with his friend Nikaido in hopes of finding the one who changed him. When the powerful sorcerer En learns that someone is slaughtering his people, he sends a team of cleaners into the Hole, sparking a war between two worlds.

The first season debuted on Netflix in early 2020, and Viz Media publishes the original manga in English.

My take: Dorohedoro is gory, hilarious, and totally unlike anything else, so I am thrilled it is finally returning. A near simultaneous worldwide stream is the perfect way to let fans everywhere dive back into the Hole together.
