Akame ga Kill Recap: Tatsumi Joins Night Raid

This Akame ga Kill recap follows the cruelest bait and switch in action anime. Tatsumi leaves his starving village for the shining imperial capital, and what he finds there is the rot at the center of everything he believed in.

Tatsumi is a dirt poor village boy who sets off for the imperial capital with his two best friends Ieyasu and Sayo, dreaming of earning enough gold as a soldier to save their starving hometown from collapse, only to get separated from them along the way and have his entire life savings stolen by a scammer the very moment he walks into the city.

Lost and broke with nowhere to sleep, a wealthy noble girl named Aria takes him in off the streets and treats him like family, but that same night a squad of gorgeous female assassins called Night Raid breaks into her mansion and reveals the truth, that Aria and her parents have been kidnapping innocent travelers for years and torturing them to death purely for entertainment, and the latest victims crucified in their basement are none other than Ieyasu and Sayo, and when Tatsumi discovers what happened to his friends he executes Aria himself and accepts Night Raid’s invitation to join their ranks, starting a brutal revenge mission against the corrupt empire that destroyed everything he ever loved.
