Fami-res Iko. Sequel to Let’s Go Karaoke! Manga Set to End With Volume 2 in March

The sequel manga to Yama Wayama’s Let’s Go Karaoke! is wrapping up sooner than many might expect. Amazon Japan is listing the second compiled book volume of Fami-res Iko., subtitled Let’s Go to a Family Restaurant, as the series’ final volume. That volume is set to ship on March 12.

Wayama launched the Fami-res Iko. sequel in Kadokawa’s Comic Beam in May 2021, following an initial one-shot published in November 2020. The first compiled volume of the sequel shipped in December 2023.

The original Let’s Go Karaoke! story began as a doujin publication in 2019 before Kadokawa released it in a single collected volume in September 2020. It placed third in the 14th Manga Taisho awards in 2021 and later inspired a live action film that opened in January 2024. A television anime adaptation followed, airing from July 24, including an original episode centered on the yakuza karaoke competition at the heart of the story. Yen Press handles the English language release.

Wayama is also known for her manga Onna no Sono no Hoshi.

My take: Let’s Go Karaoke! has always been a charming and funny premise, and it is a little bittersweet to see its sequel come to a close so quickly. Two volumes feels short, but a tight ending is always better than one that drags on past its welcome.
