The Apothecary Diaries Exhibition Tours Asia From November
TOHO animation celebrated two years of The Apothecary Diaries on Wednesday with a special anniversary trailer, released with subtitles in a long list of languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Korean, Portuguese, and both forms of Chinese. The video carried some big announcements for fans around the world.
The headline news is that a third television season is on the way, with its first half premiering in October 2026 and the second half following in April 2027. On top of that, an anime film is set to open in December 2026, built around a brand new story written by original author Natsu Hyūga.
There is something for fans across Asia too. A traveling Apothecary Diaries exhibition will tour the region beginning with Hong Kong this November, then making its way to mainland China, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and more.
For those catching up, the first season arrived in October 2023 and ran for two cours, while the second season aired from January through early July on Nippon TV’s Friday Anime Night block. Crunchyroll has streamed both seasons with subtitles and an English dub.
The series follows Maomao, a sharp and quietly brilliant girl raised by her apothecary father. After she is kidnapped and sold into service in the emperor’s sprawling rear palace, her deep knowledge of medicine slowly draws her into its many mysteries.
My take: Rolling out an anniversary trailer in this many languages says a lot about how far the show’s reach has grown. The exhibition tour is a sweet touch, and I love that the story is being celebrated as the international hit it has become.
