Mahou no Shimai Lulluto Lilly Reveals Cast and 2026 Date
The official website for the original anime Mahou no Shimai Lulluto Lilly, known in English as Magical Sisters Lulluto Lilly, shared its main cast, staff, a teaser visual, and a pilot film on Tuesday. The series is set to premiere in April 2026.
Nao Ojika voices Rui Nonoyama and May Tachibana plays her sister Fuu Nonoyama, with Fuu Hirohara as Sena Aozono, Fuuka Izumi as Touko Kandachi, Ai Kayano as Azuki, and Hiroki Nanami as Uguisu.
Shintarou Douge is directing at Studio Pierrot, while Yuuko Kakihara, known for Asobi Asobase, handles the series composition and scripts. The character designs come from Hirono Nishiki, Mami Sodeyama, and Namiko Torii.
The story follows Fuu and Rui, two sisters who have drifted apart even though they were once close. When Fuu stumbles onto a mysterious spaceship that grants her magic, Rui receives powers of her own, and both are able to take on their ideal adult forms. Their magic comes with two firm rules, though: it lasts only a year, and the secret must stay hidden. Neither sister knows about the other’s gift as they each set out to live as idols.
The project carries on a long Studio Pierrot tradition. The studio’s Magical Girl Series ran from 1983 to 1998 and gathered five well loved titles: Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Persia the Magic Fairy, Magical Emi, Pastel Yumi, and Fancy Lala.
My take: I find it sweet that this new series ties two estranged sisters back together through magic, and I am quietly hopeful it honors the warmth those classic Pierrot shows are remembered for.
