Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly Pilot Film Offers First Look
Pierrot has given fans a sweeter taste of its new magical girl show, Magical Sisters Lulutto Lilly, ahead of its April 2026 debut. A short pilot film and a teaser visual set the tone, leaning into soft, comforting pinks and blues, and introduce the two sisters at the heart of it.
Those leads are Fu Nonoyama, a blue haired elementary schooler voiced by Mei Tachibana, and her pink haired older sister Rui, a middle schooler voiced by Nao Ojika. The two are not as close as they once were. After each of them gains magic on her own, they learn to transform into older selves, with Fu becoming CompatoLilly and Rui becoming MashuLulu.
The twist is a heavy one. Their magic only lasts a year, and they cannot tell a soul about it. So, without realizing the other is doing the very same thing, both sisters quietly start working as idols in their grown up forms.
Shintaro Doge directs and drafted the character designs, with Yuko Kakihara of The Aquatope on White Sand handling series composition. The character design team includes Namiko Torii, Hirono Nishiki, and Asami Sodeyama, while the cast also features Ai Kayano, Hiroki Nanami, Fuka Izumi, and Fu Hirohara. Pierrot is animating, with Bandai Namco Filmworks sharing the creator credit.
The project is part of Pierrot’s long running Magical Girl Series banner, first announced in June 2024. That lineage stretches back decades to beloved classics like Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Magical Emi, and Fancy Lala, which gives this new entry some serious history to live up to.
My take: A pilot film is a generous way to win people over early, and the transformation names alone are adorable. Sitting in the shadow of Creamy Mami is a tall order, but I am rooting for it to carry that legacy with care.
