Disney Twisted-Wonderland Anime Gets a Same Day English Dub
Disney announced on Monday the English dub cast for Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation. In a nice touch for fans abroad, the dub of the first season, Episode of Heartslabyul, lands on Disney+ and Hulu on October 29, the very same day the anime premieres.
The dub is directed by Michael Sinterniklaas at NYAV Post, with Brittany Lauda and Stephanie Sheh as assistant directors, Sheh also handling casting, and Reuben Lack producing.
The anime is planned across three seasons that adapt the manga tied to the popular smartphone game, under the titles Episode of Heartslabyul, Episode of Savanaclaw, and Episode of Octavinelle. The first eight episode season is led by chief director Takahiro Natori, with the game’s own composer Takumi Ozawa returning to score the show.
The story will be familiar to players. A young protagonist is pulled into another world by a magic mirror and arrives at the prestigious Night Raven College, a magic training school, where, with nowhere else to turn, they are taken in under the school’s care.
The group Night Ravens performs the opening theme, Piece of My World.
My take: A same day dub is a real gift for the game’s devoted fanbase, who have waited a long time for this. With the original composer back on board, it sounds like the adaptation is in caring hands.
