Five New Isekai and Fantasy Anime Premiere October 3
Black Clover is the headline, but October 3 is the single busiest premiere day of the fall season. Five new series land on Crunchyroll today, and most of them come from the isekai and fantasy shelf.
The lineup
A Tale of the Secret Saint, from Felix Film, follows Fia, a would be knight whose near death in battle unlocks memories of her past life as the legendary Saint who defeated the Demon King. Magical Explorer, animated by WHITE FOX, drops Kousuke Takioto into the world of an adult game as the hapless friend character, only for him to stumble into a route the game never had. Romelia War Chronicle, from Atra, opens with its heroine dumped by a prince and sent home in disgrace, and follows her vow to rebuild a ruined province into a power. VERTEX FORCE, from SMDE, is the odd one out, an original sci fi story about a boy in northern Okinawa whose sister inherited a power he did not, right as unknown enemies arrive. #I’m Looking For a Zombie, from Studio Comet, sends a girl raised on stories of the old world out into a zombie ruined city to find her missing father.
Which one to try first
Romelia War Chronicle has the strongest hook if you like kingdom building stories, and VERTEX FORCE is the wild card worth an episode simply because originals are rare. The full schedule was reported by Animation World Network.
My take: Five premieres in one day guarantees at least two get buried. My money says Romelia finds its audience and VERTEX FORCE becomes the season’s surprise argument.
