Hunter x Hunter 420 Spoilers: Hisoka Meets Tserriednich
Hunter x Hunter 420 does two things at once. It gives us the Hisoka scene the fandom has been waiting years for, and it closes the book again. The manga is back on hiatus.
So here is what actually happens in the chapter, what Tserriednich’s new ability really does, and what Shueisha has and has not said about the break.
What happens in Hunter x Hunter 420
Tier 1 sits under lockdown. Martial law covers the whole deck. Tserriednich walks into the casino anyway, looking for a way down to the lower tiers.
He notices two things fast. Nobody is guarding the place, and there are bodies. Royal guards, throats opened, every one with the same clean slash.
That detail bothers him. The mafia groups working for the princes carry guns, not blades. So somebody else is aboard.
Then he spots a man sitting at a machine, playing games in the middle of a lockdown.
Ephemeral Ten Seconds and Laplace’s Demon
Tserriednich decides to test him. He goes invisible and closes the gap, because his ability only works inside a radius of roughly 36 metres. Once the man is inside that circle, he can act.
The panel names it outright. “Ephemeral Ten Seconds”: Laplace’s Demon. Some translations render it as Laplace’s Devil. Either way it does the same thing. It shows him the next ten seconds before they happen.
So he runs the simulation. In it, he fires. The man slips the bullet, closes the distance, and opens his throat with a playing card.
Read that part carefully, because a lot of the spoiler threads got it wrong. The kill happens inside the vision. It is a warning, not an event.
Hisoka walks away
The man is Hisoka, and he is already one step ahead. He vanishes from the seat before Tserriednich can fire, and the moment Tserriednich steps outside the 36 metre radius the ability simply stops.
Then Hisoka is standing behind him.
Nothing happens. Hisoka looks at him, decides he is not worth the trouble, and walks. Tserriednich does not fire the shot he saw himself fire. He runs instead, still invisible, still holding Zetsu, and calls the man a monster once he is clear.
Both of them survive. That is the whole encounter, and it is far more unsettling than a fight would have been.
What Tserriednich takes from it
He is shaken, and he is honest with himself about it. So he sets a target. He wants his Zetsu fast enough to activate in under a second, because against someone at that level a delay is fatal.
He also knows his Nen beast is nearly spent. Therefore he plans to use what is left rather than hoard it.
Hunter x Hunter is on hiatus again
Chapter 420 is the last one for now. The break is indefinite, and Shueisha has not given a return date.
Shueisha has not stated a reason. Plenty of posts online are filling that silence with guesses about Togashi’s health or about pressure from the magazine. None of it is confirmed, so we are not going to repeat it as fact.
What is known is how Togashi has been working. He writes in runs rather than continuously, and 420 closes out the current run. Reports say more chapters are already in progress. However, the numbers people quote vary between sources, so treat any specific figure as unconfirmed.

My take: Togashi could have given us the fight. He gave us Hisoka deciding it was not worth having, which is so much worse for Tserriednich. A prince who has spent the whole arc being the scariest thing on the boat just got measured by a clown and found boring. And then the manga stops, on that, for who knows how long. Cruel, and completely in character for this series.
