Link Click Season 3 lands this August, and the return of the time bending donghua is one of the most anticipated animation events of the year, full stop.

Why this show earned the hype

The premise stays deceptively simple. Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang run a small photo studio and take on jobs that require diving into photographs, living the moment the picture was taken. The rules are strict, the temptation to change the past is enormous, and the consequences when someone breaks the rules have carried two seasons of escalating heartbreak.

Season 2 ended with revelations about Lu Guang that recontextualized the entire series, and Season 3 walks straight into that fallout. Few shows anywhere combine slice of life warmth and outright thriller dread the way this one does.

For newcomers: both previous seasons are short, binge friendly, and better unspoiled. Go in blind if you can.

My take: Link Click is the best argument that great animation is a language, not a nationality. If you skipped it because it is donghua rather than anime, you are punishing yourself for no reason.
