Kagurabachi Chapter 125: Kunishige Forges the First Blade
Kagurabachi Chapter 125 is out now on Viz Media and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus, and it belongs to one man. Kunishige, the swordsmith father of Chihiro, finally forges the first Enchanted Blade. It is also the last chapter we get for a while, because the series has just stepped into its summer break.
What Chapter 124 set up
Chapter 124 was pure chaos, and the fandom loved every page of it. Hiroto Soga, head of the Soga clan, is dead. His younger brother Giyu has stepped up as the new clan leader, and the fallout from that change is already reshaping the political board.
Kunishige, meanwhile, refused to let the Enchanted Blade project die. Even after the government turned him down, he kept pushing forward. Surrender, sacrifice and a power shift at the top of a great clan. The chapter had all the spice an otaku could ask for.
Kunishige takes over Kagurabachi Chapter 125
Chapter 125 hands the spotlight to Chihiro’s dad. This is the moment the flashback arc has been building toward, the birth of the first ever Enchanted Blade, forged by Kunishige himself. We finally watch his craft up close, the skill that made every sword in this story matter. Fan reactions to the chapter lit up X within hours, like this widely shared post.
Where to read Kagurabachi Chapter 125
The chapter is live on the official platforms, Viz Media and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus. Both let you read the latest Kagurabachi chapters for free, and a subscription unlocks a huge library of other top manga in full translation. If you can spare it, that subscription is the easiest way to support the people actually making the series.
The hiatus is real
Kagurabachi went on hiatus on June 29, 2026 and Chapter 125 is the send off for the summer. Creator Takeru Hokazono reportedly wanted to keep drawing, but the editorial team chose a planned rest so the series stays healthy for the long run. You can read the announcement from the official account on X.
Hokazono is still a young mangaka, and the industry has a long history of artists running themselves into the ground for weekly deadlines. A scheduled break is the better way to do this. It is also not his first pause, the series took a one issue break back in 2025.
When does Kagurabachi come back?
Kagurabachi returns in August 2026. Shueisha has not locked the exact issue of Weekly Shonen Jump yet, and we will update this page the moment the date is confirmed. When it does return, expect the Kunishige flashback to pay off everything Chapter 125 just set in motion.
My take: A hiatus right after Kunishige forges the first blade stings, but this is the rare break announced before the author collapses instead of after. Jump protecting a young artist is worth a few empty weeks. The wait will feel long, and it should.
