Solo Leveling Season 2 Won Best Animation and Best Action at Crunchyroll 2026 — Sung Jinwoo Is Still Untouchable

Solo Leveling Season 2 took home Best Animation and Best Action at the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and anyone who watched A-1 Pictures’ production work on this season knew those wins were coming. The animation in Solo Leveling Season 2 operates on a different budget tier than most television anime. Every shadow ability sequence, every dungeon raid, every moment Sung Jinwoo decides to stop holding back is rendered with theatrical quality movement and lighting. Best Animation was not even a contest.
The second season covers the Japan Arc and pushes the power scaling to a level the first season only hinted at. Jinwoo going to Japan, facing S-Rank hunters from another nation, and casually demonstrating why the gap between him and every other hunter alive cannot be closed — these sequences are exactly what the fanbase wanted. The story also begins pulling back the curtain on the Monarchs and the true nature of the System, giving the plot a mythological scope that Season 1 left largely implied.
Best Action was a category Solo Leveling Season 2 dominated through sheer spectacle. The competitors were strong — Dan Da Dan Season 2, My Hero Academia Final Season, and Demon Slayer all had outstanding action sequences — but Solo Leveling’s raids operate at a scale and visual consistency that is difficult to match. The Jeju Island sequence alone justifies the award. A-1 Pictures treated this adaptation with the same care they brought to Kaguya-sama and the results show in every frame.
Season 3 has not been officially announced as of this writing but the fanbase expectation is that it is coming. The source manhwa is complete and the amount of story remaining is substantial. Season 2 ends at a point that makes a continuation not just expected but necessary. A-1 Pictures built the production quality to sustain it.
My take: Solo Leveling Season 2 winning Best Animation is one of the most deserved outcomes of the entire awards show. The production effort on this adaptation is visible in every single episode. Sung Jinwoo is the most visually compelling protagonist in modern anime and A-1 Pictures knows it. Season 3 confirmation cannot come soon enough.
