Shield Hero Season 5 Confirmed for 2027 Release

The Rising of the Shield Hero is not done yet. Season 5 was confirmed with a new trailer at Anime Expo 2026, carrying a 2027 release date. Hitoshi Haga directs at studio Kinema Citrus, keeping the production in familiar hands.

The isekai that refuses to end

Shield Hero has quietly become one of the longest running isekai franchises of its generation. Whatever ups and downs individual seasons have had, Naofumi’s slow climb from betrayed outcast to genuine hero keeps pulling its audience back, and the light novels offer plenty of road left to adapt.

Season 4 only recently finished its run, so a 2027 date for Season 5 means the franchise is now producing on a steady cadence rather than the long gaps that plagued its middle years. For fans, predictability is its own gift.

With the biggest isekai names either ending or slowing down, Shield Hero holding a yearly rhythm puts it in a strong position by default.
