The end of Bleach starts now. Thousand Year Blood War Part 4, subtitled The Calamity, premieres today, July 25, streaming on Hulu in the United States and Disney Plus internationally. The final trailer debuted at Anime Expo 2026, and the first three episodes even ran in North American theaters in late June as an early preview event.

This is the conclusion of a comeback story a decade in the making. When the Thousand Year Blood War adaptation was announced, the manga’s ending had famously been rushed in print, and fans wondered whether the anime would fix it. Three parts in, the answer has been an emphatic yes, with Tite Kubo personally involved and new scenes expanding fights the manga sped through.
The Calamity carries the heaviest load of all: Ichigo’s last stand against Yhwach and the resolution of every thread the series has carried since 2001. Studio Pierrot has treated this production as a flagship, and it shows.
The Calamity also closes a broadcast era. When the Thousand Year Blood War began airing in 2022, it set a new visual bar for legacy shonen revivals, and each part since has doubled as a proof of concept that older franchises can be finished properly rather than left to memory. Pierrot ending Ichigo’s story at full strength, with theatrical preview screenings treating episodes like events, is the model every unfinished classic now points to.

My take: Bleach fans waited ten years for a proper ending and are actually getting one. Whatever The Calamity does with Yhwach, this final part already feels like justice for the manga’s rushed finale.
