‘There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… ~Next Shine~’ Anime’s Trailer Previews Theme Song
WATANARE is coming back, and the sequel just gave us our first proper look. Here’s what the new trailer showed, plus a quick thought of my own.
The team behind There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… ~Next Shine~, the follow up to Teren Mikami’s yuri romantic comedy There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… (better known to fans as WATANARE), released a full trailer on Sunday.
The headline reveal is the main theme song, a wonderfully over the top title called “Dear My Special Precious Marvelous Sweet Darlings,” performed by the cast unit Quintet.
As for how to watch it: the sequel is being put together as a restructured, limited theatrical release, screening in Japan from November 21 to December 5. After that, it’s set to air on television as five episodes. The story picks up right after the twelfth and final episode of the first anime.
My take: I really enjoyed how soft and silly the first season was, so I’m glad there’s more on the way. The theaters first and TV later plan is a little unusual, but honestly I don’t mind it if it means spending more time with this cast. Mostly I just want to see where these two end up, and that theme song title alone tells you exactly the kind of gentle, goofy energy we’re in for.
I’ll cover the full thing properly once it screens.
