Kaiju Decode The Ring of Aidara Anime Streams First Concept Movie
The official website for Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara has begun streaming a concept movie for the upcoming CG anime project. The series is a collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation and is set in Sakai, Osaka prefecture.
The anime stars Aya Yamane as Maru, a boy from the City, and Karin Takahashi as Coco, a girl from the Aidara tribe who lives in the dangerous Zone where beasts roam. The screenplay is written by Katsuie Shibata, who worked on Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Isekai. Monster design is handled by Masayuki Gotou of SSSS.Dynazenon, while Maru’s character design comes from Hollywood CG art director Sei Nakashima, whose credits include concept work on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and the end credits illustrations for Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.
Tsuburaya Productions is best known internationally for the Ultraman franchise, while Toei Animation has an extensive history across Super Sentai, Precure, and many other long-running series. The pairing suggests Kaiju Decode is aiming for a modern, action-forward tone with high production values.
My take: The creative team here is genuinely interesting. Having Masayuki Gotou designing the monsters brings real SSSS. pedigree, and Sei Nakashima’s Hollywood background gives the character work an unusual visual reference point. The concept movie is worth watching just to see what this collaboration looks like in motion.
