Banished Court Magician Anime English Dub Debuts October 18
Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that the English dub of The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest began streaming on Saturday, October 18. The anime is based on the light novel series by Alto and Yuunagi.
The dub is led by director Caitlin Glass, with Samantha Herek producing and Audrey Drake Rigg adapting the script, alongside Rickey Watkins mixing and Jeremy Woods engineering.
The anime first premiered in Japan on October 4 and airs on Saturday nights as part of TV Asahi’s IMAnimation block, with additional broadcasts on BS Asahi and AT-X. It streams in Japan on services like ABEMA and U-NEXT, while Crunchyroll carries it internationally as it airs.
Behind the scenes, Ken Takahashi directs, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu oversees the scripts, and Yōko Satō handles character designs, with music from Diosta and High Speed Boy.
As the title suggests, the series follows a court magician who, after being cast out, sets his sights on becoming the strongest, putting a fresh spin on the familiar fantasy underdog story.
My take: A quick dub turnaround is great news for fans who prefer watching in English. Underdog fantasies live or die on their lead, so I am curious whether this magician proves charming enough to carry it.
