Dose Nakunara Koi ga Ii Manga From Lets Do It Already Creator Ends Soon
Manga artist Aki Kusaka announced on X that her series Dose Nakunara Koi ga Ii, which translates roughly as “If I’m Going to Cry Anyway, Love is Fine,” will be ending in four chapters. The story will wrap up in its 11th compiled volume.
The series has been running in Shueisha’s Margaret magazine since December 2022. It follows Hodaka, a high school girl who moves often because of her father’s job. On the day of her high school entrance ceremony she bumps into a boy wearing the same uniform, and the two of them end up in an elevator together when something unexpected happens. The ninth volume shipped on August 25 and the tenth is due out November 25.
Kusaka’s previous series, Let’s Do It Already!, also ran in Margaret and wrapped in November 2022 after nine volumes. Viz Media publishes that series in English. Dose Nakunara Koi ga Ii does not currently have a licensed English release.
My take: Four chapters is not a lot of runway, but Margaret romances tend to know how to land their endings. Kusaka seems to have a good sense of when a story has said what it needs to say. Readers who have been following Hodaka’s journey since the beginning are in the home stretch now.
