Jujutsu Kaisen Arcs in Order: Complete Story Guide
Jujutsu Kaisen is a complete story at 271 chapters, which makes it one of the few modern shonen you can map from start to finish. Here is every arc in order and where the anime stands.
Season one material
Fearsome Womb (chapters 1 to 18) introduces Yuji, Sukuna and the first years. Cursed Training (19 to 31) sets up Nanami. Vs Mahito (19 to 31 overlapping) ends with Junpei. Kyoto Goodwill Event (32 to 54) is the tournament arc. Death Painting (55 to 64) closes season one with the Cursed Womb brothers.
The prequel and season two
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 covers the Cursed Child arc, Yuta’s story a year earlier. Season two adapts Gojo’s Past, split into Hidden Inventory and Premature Death (65 to 79), then the Shibuya Incident (79 to 136), the arc that changes everything and the one the anime is most famous for.
The final stretch
Itadori’s Extermination (137 to 143) follows the fallout. Perfect Preparation (144 to 158) sets up the Culling Game. Culling Game (159 to 221) is the longest arc and is being adapted across seasons three and four. Shinjuku Showdown (222 to 268) is the final battle against Sukuna, and the Epilogue (269 to 271) closes the series.
Reading the manga
If you have watched through season two, start at chapter 137. The anime has been faithful enough that skipping ahead loses nothing.
My take: Shibuya is the peak, but the Shinjuku Showdown is the most ambitious final arc in modern shonen, flaws and all. Read to the end. It is worth arguing about.
