Secrets of the Silent Witch Episode 13 Finale Review

The finale of Secrets of the Silent Witch plays out like two stories woven together, and both land beautifully. The first is Monica’s airborne battle against a dangerous magical artifact.

I loved how that fight rewards Monica’s quiet growth. Her second school life has been making her a better Silent Witch in small ways, and here it pays off when the horse riding she learned helps her balance on a flying broom. There is also a wonderful fake out, where it looks like she will calculate the paths of countless magic arrows to dodge them, only for her to simply cut her flight magic and let them all converge from one easily blocked direction. It is a perfect work smarter, not harder moment.

The back half turns inward and personal. Felix realizes that his usual noble charm does nothing for Monica, and that the way to reach her is to share genuine interests rather than gifts.

So he takes a gamble, bringing her to a rare bookstore and revealing his own quiet admiration for the Silent Witch. There, Monica stumbles on something precious: a surviving copy of her late father’s work, the very book she once tried to memorize as its pages burned during a painful childhood.

It is a deeply moving note to end on, almost as if a piece of her father has been returned to her. Secrets of the Silent Witch is streaming on Crunchyroll.

My take: This finale balanced clever action with real emotion in a way I adored. That final gift of her father’s book genuinely moved me, and it makes me hope we see more of Monica’s story before long.
