Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Film Gets 3D Screenings in the U.S.

Good news for Chainsaw Man fans in the United States. Sony Pictures has announced that Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc, based on the Reze Arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga, will get RealD 3D screenings when it opens stateside.

The U.S. release has actually been moved up to October 24, a few days earlier than originally planned, with the United Kingdom following on October 29. Sony holds worldwide theatrical rights, and the film has already screened in more than 80 countries.

In Japan it opened on September 19 across 421 theaters and immediately took the number one spot, ending the nine week box office reign of the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle film. It has since sold nearly two million tickets and earned around 20 million dollars, with projections that it could reach roughly 34 million dollars over its full run. Beyond 3D, it is also showing in MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema formats.

Reina Ueda voices Reze, while Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada perform the ending theme JANE DOE, and Yonezu also handles the main theme IRIS OUT.

My take: The Reze Arc is one of the most beloved stretches of Chainsaw Man, so giving it the big screen treatment with 3D and premium formats feels well deserved. That it dethroned Demon Slayer at the box office tells you just how hungry fans were for it.
