Attack on Titan Watch Order With Movies and OVAs
Attack on Titan is a tightly plotted series with no filler, but its final season was split into so many parts that new viewers get lost. Here is the whole thing in order.
The main series
Season 1 (25 episodes) covers the fall of Wall Maria through the Female Titan. Season 2 (12 episodes) follows the Clash of the Titans arc. Season 3 is split into Part 1 (12 episodes, the Uprising arc) and Part 2 (10 episodes, the Return to Shiganshina). Then the Final Season: Part 1 (16 episodes), Part 2 (12 episodes), and The Final Chapters, released as two feature length specials in 2023. Watch all of it in that order. Every episode is canon.
The OVAs
The Ilse’s Notebook OVA fits after season 1 episode 13 and is worth it. The Distress OVA is a fun side story set during training. The three part No Regrets OVA, adapting Levi’s backstory, is the best of the bunch and fits anywhere after season 1. Lost Girls, focused on Annie and Mikasa, is optional. Skip the chibi Junior High spinoff unless you want a laugh.
The movies
The compilation films Crimson Bow and Arrow, Wings of Freedom, Roar of Awakening and Chronicle are all recaps. They are handy for a refresher between seasons but not needed if you watch the episodes. The 2025 theatrical release The Last Attack is the two Final Chapters specials cut together for cinemas.
Total runtime
About 94 episodes plus the two specials, or roughly 40 hours. It is one of the most rewarding binges in anime and one of the few long series with a genuine ending.
My take: Watch No Regrets after season one and everything else in release order. Do not let anyone spoil the basement.
