Live Action Therapy Game BL Series Adds Seven Cast Members
The team behind the live action adaptation of Meguru Hinohara’s boys love manga Therapy Game revealed seven more cast members on Tuesday, ahead of the show’s premiere later this month.
The leads are already set, with MAZZEL member NAOYA playing Minato Mito and Ryūgūjō member Yūki Tomita as Shizuma Ikushima. The newly announced additions fill out the world around them, including Ryūga Satō as Minato’s older brother Itsuki, idol HAYATO as Itsuki’s boyfriend Shōhei, and Haruse Akune as one of Shizuma’s classmates.
Rounding out the group are Eito Konishi as another classmate, Hiyori Hamagishi as Shizuma’s former girlfriend, Megumi Yokoyama as his mother, and Takashi Yamanaka as the manager of the welcoming bar that Minato likes to visit.
The series premieres on NTV on October 29, with scripts by Yō Saitō and Shinju Funabiki. Music comes from the two idol groups involved, as Ryūgūjō performs the opening theme SUGAR and MAZZEL handles the ending song Only You.
The original manga, along with its sequel Therapy Game Restart, is published in English by Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint. The story follows Shizuma and Minato after a tipsy first meeting leads to a tangled mix of attraction, mischief, and unexpected feelings.
My take: Live action BL adaptations have been growing steadily, and a well cast one is always fun to watch. I am curious to see how the leads bring this messy, charming romance to life.
