Let’s Play Anime’s English Dub Premieres on Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll has begun streaming the English dub for Let’s Play, the anime adaptation of the popular webcomic by Leeanne M. Krecic, who also goes by Mongie. The dub started this week, and the cast and crew were revealed alongside it.
Leading the dub team are director Jason Lord and producer Susie Nixon, with Macy Anne Johnson adapting the English script, James Baker mixing, and Jose Sandoval engineering.
The anime itself premiered in Japan on Fuji TV’s +Ultra block on October 1. It is produced at studio OLM, with Daiki Tomiyasu directing and Ayumi Moriyama serving as assistant director.
The rest of the staff brings solid credits too. Saki Ebisawa handles character designs based on original art by Ebimo, while Aya Matsui, known for Marmalade Boy, oversees the series composition.
Let’s Play began as a webcomic following a young video game developer as she navigates her career, friendships, and romance, and it built a large following online before this adaptation.
My take: Webcomics making the leap to anime is always exciting, and getting a dub out so quickly is great for fans. I am curious to see how the show captures the warm, slice of life charm that won people over online.
