Chainsaw Man Arcs in Order: The Complete Guide

Chainsaw Man is split into two parts with very different tones, and knowing the arc order helps you understand where the anime stands and where the story is going. Here is the complete breakdown.

Part 1: Public Safety Saga

Intro Arc (chapters 1 to 4) introduces Denji, Pochita and Makima. Bat Devil Arc (5 to 13) brings in Power and Aki. Eternity Devil Arc (14 to 22) is the hotel loop and the first taste of real horror. Katana Man Arc (23 to 38) sets up the Gun Devil hunt. The anime’s first season covers everything through here. Bomb Girl Arc (39 to 52) is the Reze story, adapted as the Reze Arc theatrical film. International Assassins Arc (53 to 70) brings Quanxi and the Darkness Devil. Gun Devil Arc (71 to 79) is the fight everyone waited for. Control Devil Arc (80 to 97) ends Part 1 with Makima’s true nature and Denji’s final choice.

Part 2: Academy Saga

Part 2 begins at chapter 98 with Asa Mitaka and the War Devil, shifting to a school setting and a slower, stranger rhythm. Its arcs include the Justice Devil Arc, Dating Denji Arc, Falling Devil Arc, Chainsaw Man Church Arc, Aging Devil Arc and the ongoing Death Devil material. Part 2 is serialized in Shonen Jump Plus and remains unfinished.

Where the anime stands

Season one plus the Reze Arc film covers chapters 1 through 52. Everything from International Assassins onward is still to come.

My take: Part 1 is a perfect story on its own, and Part 2 is Fujimoto refusing to repeat himself. Read both, but read Part 1 first and let it end.
