Demon Slayer Watch Order Including the Films
Demon Slayer mixes television seasons and theatrical films in a way that confuses people, because some films are the story and some are just recaps. Here is the exact order.
Season one
Start with the 26 episode first season, covering Tanjiro’s journey from the Final Selection through Mount Natagumo and the Hashira meeting. Episode 19, the Rui fight, is the moment the series became a phenomenon.
Mugen Train: film or arc
The Mugen Train story exists twice. The 2020 film is the original, and the Mugen Train Arc television season is the same story recut into seven episodes with an added prologue. Watch one, not both. The film is the better experience.
The television seasons
Entertainment District Arc (11 episodes) follows Mugen Train. Then Swordsmith Village Arc (11 episodes), then Hashira Training Arc (8 episodes). Each of these was preceded by a theatrical compilation film that stitched the previous arc’s finale to the new arc’s premiere. Those compilation films are optional because the episodes contain everything.
Infinity Castle
The final arc is being told as a trilogy of theatrical films rather than a season. The first Infinity Castle film released in 2025 and became one of the biggest anime films ever. Part 2 is planned for 2027 at the earliest, with the finale expected around 2029. Watch the films as they arrive.
Total commitment
Roughly 63 episodes and the films, with the story’s ending still on the way. It is one of the most accessible long series in anime.
My take: Watch the Mugen Train film, skip the compilation movies, and let the Infinity Castle trilogy be the event it deserves to be.
