Four Sequels Premiere October 7: Sasaki and Peeps to Returner

Rayearth may own the headlines today, but October 7 is really sequel day. Four series land on Crunchyroll alongside it, three of them second seasons that fans have been waiting on for a while.

The returning shows

Sasaki and Peeps Season 2, from SILVER LINK, brings back the exhausted office worker and the pet bird who turned out to be a powerful mage from another world. The first season’s mix of otherworld adventure and magical girl fights in modern Tokyo was stranger than its premise suggested, and it earned its sequel. The Detective is Already Dead Season 2, from ENGI, picks up a year after Siesta’s death, with Kimihiko pulled into a case that threads murder and conspiracy back to his dead partner. A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special Season 2, from Arvo Animation, continues the manhwa adaptation about Desir, a mage sent thirteen years into the past with knowledge of humanity’s coming defeat.

The newcomer

The World’s Strongest Witch, from Bridge and AISLE, is the fresh face, following Lorna, whose SSS rank skill is literally the internet, as she travels to a port town on the brink of destruction. It is the comedic entry in a serious batch.

All four premieres were confirmed in the fall schedule reported by Animation World Network.

My take: Returner’s Magic is the one with real upside if the production stays steady, and Sasaki and Peeps is the one I am simply happy to have back.
